Established in 2009, the Health and Consumer task force covers a variety of issues, which is reflected in the members of this task force.In 2011 the task force developed a core theme "A responsible approach to health and well-being" where identified speakers and discussion topics from the three areas are all focused on this topic. Topics of interest This broad range of topics provides members with an opportunity to exchange views with MEP’s, Commission officials and other stakeholders on some of the most topical issues on the EU policy and legislative agenda.

Consumer issues have traditionally featured high on the priority list of the taskforce.  In addition the task force has reinforced the health angle, to cover  key issues such as the review of the pharmaceutical package. Also as EU social affairs policy develops the task force plans to look at employment and skills. Topics previously covered food labelling, pharmacy liberalisation and Health Technology Assessments.

Some of the members of this task force include, Bayer Crop Science, Eli Lilly. Coca Cola and L’Oreal. This dynamic range of companies and organisations from pharmaceutical, food, retail, agricultural, as well as Information technologies fields.  This wide range of expertise brings together an informed group have a very positive role to play in informing legislators and policy formers about the business and social realities in relation to the EU activities in the health and  consumer fields.
