The Chamber's EU Committee is a window on EU activities. It is a forum to both meet policy-makers and hold close dialogue with the EU institutions. The committee attracts members with specialist knowledge covering industry, commerce, legal and financial matters and EU consultancy in general. Its activities include regular meetings where key EU actors, such as Commissioners, are invited to address the Committee, Conferences, Breakfast Briefings with Directors General, visits to institutions such as the European Parliament in Strasbourg and national parliaments, and focus groups in the European Parliament in Brussels.

EU Committee Task Forces
The chamber's EU committee programme is both extensive and varied, with off-the record briefings with the most senior officials from the EU institutions, ambassadors and MEPs. These usually feature a relatively small audience of companies, around 40 people, which make them an excellent opportunity to meet key stakeholders and gain an insight into the thinking of leading policy makers.
As a member of our EU committee you will have the opportunity to directly influence the development of our programme, and the chance to enhance your company profile by shaping the agenda of our Task Forces and sponsoring key events.
The EU Committee Task Forces provide a further targeted opportunity to participate in meetings with officials and MEPs (dealing with the dossiers identified as essential by you and your peers). They organise an additional 20 or so events per year which are normally free.
The Task Force structure offers a valuable opportunity to enhance the development of initiatives and activities related to EU processes and issues. Our current Task Forces cover health & consumer policy, energy, environment and transport and business security (counterfeit and brand protection, IP issues, customs and border security). They create a proactive committee in providing their expertise, ideas and suggestions with the help of the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the Task Force.
The current Task Force chairs are:
- Energy, Environment & Transport (Chair: Tom Parker – Cambre Associates)
- Health, Consumer Issues & Social Affairs (Chair: José Lalloum – LOGOS Public Affairs)
- Business Security (Chair: Sean Murray – EUK Consulting)
- Financial Services (Chair: Susanna Di Feliciantonio - ICAEW)
- Food Security, Safety and Sustainability (Chair: Glenn Vaughan - British Chamber)
- Competition - soon to be launched
Task Forces meet roughly once a month. Meetings are normally from 8.30-9.30hrs with a guest speaker from a European Institution or other organisation speaking on specific EU issues for about 20 minutes. Such informal meetings result in a lively and well-informed discussion during which Task Force members have an opportunity to pose questions related to their own business concerns. They also organise larger MEP Focus Groups, seminars and roundtable discussions.
