British Chamber of Commerce Member Survey
The British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium conducted a member survey during February 2010.
Respondents completed the survey via a web based survey. 2000 invitations were sent out to current members, non-members and previous members. A total of 164 respondents completed the questionnaire:
- 28 Corporate Representations
- 31 Service Companies
- 50 EU Lobbyists / Consultancies
- 11 Expat Services
- 34 SMEs
- 7 Large Firms
The survey was undertaken to estblish information in five main areas:
- Leadership - Is the British Chamber the leading business network ?
- Our people - Do our people have the right expertise to win ?
- Delivering results - Are we performing consistently ?
- Amazing relationships - Are we connected to our members ?
- Measurement & evaluation - Are we learning from the past?
What we learned:

Leadership
Almost 60% of respondents (strongly) agree when considering all aspects of leadership the British Chamber is the networking authority in Belgium.
At the same time 85% of our members find the British Chamber of Commerce (very) important to engage with peers and top decision makers. For this very reason we offer five networking cocktails to our 250 international member companies and their 2000 representatives.
Our People
According to our respondents, the attitude and skills of the team are considered very effective, 78% of respondents (strongly) agree the British Chamber staff members are helpful and attentive to their needs.
At the same time, 81% of the Members answering strongly agreed that representatives of the British Chamber are well briefed and knowledgeable.
Delivering Results
Networking is very important for over 92 % of the members of the British Chamber, and the organisation succeeds in meeting its members' needs in providing networking opportunities and a chance to meet relevant people.
Amazing Relationships
Considering all aspects, two-thirds of our Members indicated they have an outstanding relationship with the British Chamber. At the same time over 78% of respondents answered that representatives of the British Chamber are always helpful and attentive to their needs.
Measurement & evaluation
Most of our members agree that British Chamber events are well thought through.
At the same time most of our members (strongly) agree to the statement that the British Chamber rigorously measures, evaluates and plans its performance.
